Venice Beach CA News and Venice Beach Art Shows

Located about an hour northwest of Los Angeles sits perhaps the hippiest beach in the world, well at least this country. I'm speaking of training about the 60's area counterculture hangout, and modern day haven for people who believe in having a great time, but also putting to the world through art and revolutionary thinking. Go to you will feel educated and Venice Beach, you will feel free. On this 1/2 kilometer strip of beach, and the same length in boardwalk, you will find one of the most condense places in the US in terms of ideas and art. What my friends in more important than that?

No Venice Beach is not loaded with debate centers and art galleries. You'll not discover any Van Goghs, and politicians do not end here frequently. The art and the concepts are where they fit, on the street and amongst the people. What you will find are huge murals, comprehensive mud sculptures, spray painted designs, and complicated tattoo artists. You'll are willing to talk with you about the problems, and find people there only for the purpose of communicating their ideas, not just preach to you. Another reason I love this part of life on the beach, of course, is because the issue most talked about is the legalization of marijuana. I did downplay the galleries here to a degree, but let me tell you there are some very good people. The Julie Rico Gallery showcases some statues and very useful psychedelic pictures, and Collectibles and Collectibles Antiques is a large mixture of gallery, collectibles, bookstores and consignment shops. Getting away from those two areas of the beach there are many other things to do. A very outdoorsy, running type of people frequents this beach, and you could essentially find anything you need to do here in a physical sense. First down there is the beach and water. You can catch some rays, work or walk along the beach and even go browsing (you could rent a board nearby if you don't have one). People are constantly cycling, rollerblading and skateboarding up and down the boardwalk. Leases are easy to come by and fairly inexpensive. Of course Venice Beach is also home to the famous Muscle Beach. For a few bucks you can lift weights among the monsters that come here or just sit back and people watch.

The complex also contains a large outdoor baseball center where courts are almost always available. Judge one hosts nightly fight between some particularly good hockey players. The surfaces were included in the video 'White Men Can't Jump. A quick walk to the North and you may ride rides on Santa Monica Pier. Though Venice is known for it is counterculture type atmosphere, it really does provide entertainment for people of every walk of life as you can see.

Spend a relaxing afternoon among the performers, as you stroll down the beach using in the sights sounds and free activity.

You will see artists, roller bladders, graphics shops, places to eat, workout areas, people just hanging out and more.

Besides people watching check out a place called Muscle beach a portion of Venice Beach). Here you could enjoy fanatic system builders moving iron. It's exciting to discover their feats of strength as walk along the beach.

If you like wearing outrageous clothing, this is the position to do it. You'll see special and different clothing from a wide selection of people and cultures. People show themselves to the max.

The food here is also remarkable. I still won't miss any of the motion and recommend where you could get a good meal eating at The Sidewalk Cafe. Cafe Collage is also very good and was recently voted in the top 10 of L.A. s best restaurants. Cyber Java and place Age Cafe are also worth if you want a good cup of either good conversation and coffee are an internet connection ready for use visiting. I love all these places, but for myself I usually choose to consume on the beach and just get some food out on the boardwalk. You can find large slices of pizza for under $1.50, or tasty shishkabobs for under $2.00. It makes me eager just thinking about it. After eating you might want to go look, and you'll find a hip and very varied collection of head shops, clothing boutiques, hobby outlets, skateboard shops, bookstores and numerous other merchants. Culture and religion of every kind is represented here, and the costs are very economical. The boardwalk is also covered with people who set up stands selling about anything you want. So bring your wallet, appreciate, and don't be afraid to bargain.

No I've not been to every small crevice of America, but I would honestly claim that Venice Beach is my favorite 1-mile distance area in the entire country and I've traveled extensively. There's simple no more diverse place as much as shopping, food, regular activities, and great people with great ideas in the U.S. Revolutionaries of the 60's understood this and we've been knowing it ever since. Rick Morrison rested on rooftops here for a summer and the notorious meeting with Ray Manzarak in which The Doors was produced took place on this very beach.

Find virtually any musician, not comatose and living, from the 60's and 70's and I will guess they have spent time in Venice Beach. Now it is merely the best time to be had in the L.A. area. That is just my view of course, but that's all that matters in this document. As for my favorite items here, that would have to be the 'Tribute To Starry Night' mural, the guitar strumming-roller skating-rock d roller Harry Perry, the weekend 100+ people bongo sectors that form at of, and sunset course the people. If you get bored with all the things described above and need to re-energize, easy move to the beach, hang an umbrella over your head and....I will let you finish that one.
